Special warnings about Ambien
Ambien may lose its effectiveness if it is used every night for more than a few weeks. Some sleep medications may even form a dependency if used for a long period of time. An increased dosage of Ambien may be dangerous — do not change the dosage without the permission of your personal doctor.
Some people who have taken Ambien together with serotonin-boosting antidepressants have stated to experience unusual changes in their thinking and/or behavior. Inform your doctor immediately if you observe such changes when taking Ambien. In rare cases Ambien may cause a certain type of memory loss called «traveler’s amnesia». So make sure to not take Ambien on overnight airplane flights of less than 7 to 8.
When taking Ambien for the first time try to not operate any machinery or drive a car the day after. At first, Ambien may cause mild drowsiness, so make sure to avoid any activity requiring full awareness and focus. Older adults should know that they may be more apt to lose balance.
